To all our patients,
Our thoughts are with you and your families during this Coronavirus crisis. We want to assure you that we are open and here to care for you.
Your health and well-being are always of huge importance to us, and even more especially now during this difficult time.
We ask that everyone contact reception by phone initially, rather than coming without prior contact. In this way, reception can consider how best to help you, either by offering an appointment or recommending a call back from one of the doctors. There can be delays in returning calls but we will always get to you and can be of help to you.

If your call relates to possible infection with Covid 19, we will be able to asses and advise over the phone, and arrange testing if indicated.

It is important during this time that people do not neglect other medical issues – new or old. If you or any of your household are experiencing new symptoms or a change in general well-being, including mental health, this needs care and attention. If you have any medical concerns, we urge you to ring in.

Many issues can be dealt with by phone or video consultation, but we are certainly seeing people in person, providing they are clear of Covid 19 symptoms. We are maintaining normal care of all pregnant women and newborns, including childhood vaccinations, and caring for all those with cancer and chronic illness.

Please be assured that we have systems in place to keep everyone safe while visiting the practice. We have kept very tight control on the premises since the outset, using cleaning techniques after every patient visit, limiting the duration of consultations to 15 minutes, personal protection equipment for the clinical staff, and use of masks.

We are making greater use of technology to help with paperwork and administration. Prescriptions can be sent directly to your pharmacy by secure email; certs and letters can be emailed directly to you. Payments can be made in person or by calling reception.
We are here for you and send best wishes for your health and safety.

From all at Castle Medical Centre.

For urgent medical advice or in the case of an emergency outside our regular hours, the practice is part of a rota run by local GP’s. This is located in the Bon Secours Hospital, at weekends and at the GP surgeries in the city during the week. To contact a doctor out of hours, please ring our main surgery number 091 767449. You will hear a message informing you how to contact the doctor on call.

What Our Patients Say

“From when we arrived back to Ireland in 1990 with three children and our fourth on the way, Dr Bluett and Dr Cashman and partners have looked after all our family health issues with absolute professionalism. There is that respect all the way from the front desk to the surgery. I find the whole team very compassionate and down-to-earth. They have our trust and continued support. Our new grandson and his dad are now living in Galway, so generation three have joined the patient list!”

“I have been a patient of Dr Mairead Cashman for over 30 years and cannot speak highly enough of the service provided by her to both me and my family. In 2000, I was diagnosed with cancer and I can honestly say that I attribute my full recovery to the care, attention and advice that I received from Dr Cashman. As my illness was such a traumatic event, Dr Cashman took on board how this would affect my immediate family and extended her care and services to each of them, which enabled us to deal with the situation together. As well as Dr Cashman’s excellent work, Marina and the staff in reception are also very personable and eager to help. There is always an appointment available when needed and their service and flexibility are second to none. I have no hesitation in recommending this practice to other families.”

Karen KennySept 2014

As a mother with a young family it is comforting to know there is such a great team of staff always ready to support at Castle Medical Centre.

My youngest suffered from severe GERD (reflux) for the first 2 yrs. and it was often quite a worrying and stressful time. From the moment you pick up the phone the staff are professional, personable and reassuring, often going out of their way to fit us in urgently.

I would highly recommend Castle Medical Centre to any family and would like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank You very much’.
